When you are buying a home it is important to choose an agent that is right for you. Buying real estate can be a very exciting process and can be even more enjoyable when you have an agent that works well with your personality, helps you thru the process and is able to address any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the transaction. Here are 10 interview questions you should ask your real estate agent.

1. Why did you get into real estate?

Get to know the agent, on a more personal level.

2. How familiar are you with the area?

Having an agent that knows the area that you are searching in can be crucial. If your agent is familiar with the area they may have a better understanding of what you are looking for and where exactly they can find it. Which can save you time and energy when looking at properties.

3. What is the best way to contact you?

Does the agent prefer that you contact them by phone, text, a messenger app, email, or something else? Having a way to communicate that works for you can help avoid future stress, as well as saving you both time.

4. How often will you be available to show houses?

Will their schedule work with yours?

5. What resources do you have to help me thru the buying process?

Everyone loves resources, whether it is a cool website for you to look at houses on or something that the agent uses to separate themselves from the competition, which brings us to the next question.

6. What separates you from the competition?

How is the agent better than the competition? How is the agent worse? That is up to you to decide.

7. How often will we be in touch?

Communication is key. Knowing up front how often the agent wants to communicate with you during the process is important. Will they be there to answer your questions?

8. What are your obligations as a real estate agent?

There are several types of agency agreements so it is important to make sure that you are both on the same page.

9. What questions do you have for me?

Giving the agent time to ask you questions can give them a better understanding of what you are looking for, and it also gives you both a chance to see if you would like to work together.

10. What else do I need to know about yourself or the buying process?

Make sure to ask as many questions as you have!
